FAMILY CREST COLLECTION
Signet Rings Engraved With Your Family Coat of Arms
The signet ring has served as a symbol of family identity for over 900 years. Originally used to seal documents with a wax impression of the owner's crest, today it is worn as a proud declaration of lineage, heritage, and personal style. Our custom family crest rings carry that same weight and meaning, with every heraldic element of your coat of arms faithfully carved into the ring face.
Whether you are continuing a family tradition or starting one, a coat of arms signet ring is a statement piece that grows more valuable with every generation that wears it.
The Tradition of the Family Crest Signet Ring: How and Where to Wear It
Signet rings have a long history of being worn with intention. The traditional placement is on the pinky finger of the non-dominant hand. In British and European tradition, this position signaled that the wearer was the head of a family line or an individual of heraldic standing. Today, the pinky finger remains the most popular choice for family crest signet rings, though many people also wear them on the ring finger or index finger based on personal comfort and style.
There is no wrong way to wear your heritage. Whether you choose the traditional pinky placement or a more modern finger, what matters is that the ring carries your family's history with you every day.
Ring Styles, Metals, and Custom Options
We offer multiple face shapes to match your personal style: classic oval, square, cushion, and round. Band widths range from sleek and refined to bold and substantial. Every ring is available in three premium metals: sterling silver for a bright, modern look; bronze for a warm, antique character; and gold-plated copper for a distinguished, luminous finish.
Personalize beyond the crest by adding a family motto, initials, or date to the inner band or ring shoulders. Stone accents can highlight specific crest elements. Our design team works with you to create the exact ring you envision.
Reverse Engraving for Wax Seals vs. Standard Display Engraving
Historically, signet rings were used to press a wax seal that authenticated letters and documents. For the seal impression to read correctly, the engraving on the ring must be carved in reverse, also known as intaglio engraving. If you intend to use your family crest ring as a functional wax seal, reverse engraving is essential.
If your ring is purely for display and daily wear, standard (positive) engraving produces a design that reads correctly when viewed directly on the ring face. During the design consultation, our team will ask about your intended use and engrave accordingly. You will see the orientation clearly in your digital proof before production begins.
One Ring, No Minimum Order: Made Just for You
A family crest ring is deeply personal. You should not need to order ten to get one. We have no minimum order requirement. Commission a single signet ring engraved with your unique coat of arms, and it receives the same level of artisan craftsmanship, design attention, and quality control as a bulk order. Your piece is made to order, inspected by hand, and shipped directly to you.
Need it for a family reunion, birthday, or holiday? Overnight shipping is available on all completed orders.
